Indianapolis, Indiana's largest city and seat of Marion County, is located in the central part of the state at the west fork of the White River. Matt Nowlin, a former research analyst at the IUPUI Polis Center, said that although some sectors of Indianapolis are being gentrified and are experiencing white population growth such as the center and the near north, it does not match the larger trend occurring outside the city.
